Privacy Policy

Soma (“the app”, “we”) is built privacy-first. In short: your data stays on your device. Soma has no user accounts, no servers that store your information, no analytics, and no advertising. This page explains exactly what that means.

1. Information we collect

We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal information on any server. Everything you do in Soma is saved only in the app’s private storage on your own device, including:

• Your name (optional) and language preference;
• Meditation, breathing, sleep and workout sessions, streaks and total minutes;
• Mood check-ins and journal entries;
• Hydration counts, course progress and reminder settings.

This information never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or anyone else.

2. No accounts, no tracking

Soma does not require you to create an account or sign in. We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not use cookies. We have no way to identify you.

3. The AI guide runs on your device

Soma’s AI guide answers from a knowledge base bundled inside the app and, optionally, a small language model that runs entirely on your device. Your questions and conversations are processed locally and are not sent to us or any third party.

• On supported iPhones, the guide can use Apple Intelligence (Apple’s on-device Foundation Models). That processing happens on your device and is governed by Apple’s privacy protections.
• On other devices, you may choose to download a small open-source language model. The model file is downloaded once from a third-party model host (a content-delivery network) and then stored on your device. That download contains no personal data — it only fetches the model itself.

4. Network use

Soma is offline-first. The only times the app uses the network are: (a) if you choose to download the optional on-device AI model, and (b) standard app delivery and updates handled by the App Store or Google Play. No personal data is transmitted in either case.

5. Notifications

If you enable the daily reminder, Soma schedules a local notification on your device. These are generated on-device, are not sent through any push server, and you can turn them off any time in Settings.

6. Keeping and deleting your data

Because your data lives only on your device, you are fully in control of it. You can erase everything at any time using You → Reset all data inside the app, or by deleting the app — both permanently remove all Soma data from your device.

7. Children

Soma is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect information from children — and in fact we collect no personal information from anyone.

8. A wellbeing tool, not medical care

Soma supports general wellbeing and is not a medical or mental-health service, and is not a substitute for professional advice, diagnosis or treatment. The guide includes a crisis-safety reminder, but if you are in crisis please contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change how Soma handles data, we will update this page and the “last updated” date above. Any future feature that would send data off your device would be clearly described here first.
